I'm fairly new to milsurps but am learning quickly about my disease. :cool-smiley-1: Gathering up what I can from local stores which have plenty of Russian stuff, K31's etc but the Enfield No4 Mk1's in the Big5's near me for the last 4 months or so have all been in horrendous condition. Thinking it's time to apply for that C&R. Any suggestions on who has the best deal these days on a No4 Mk1 that's in "decent" shape. Thanks in advance.

No4's seem to come and go... best to get 'em while you can. Right now they seem to be in short supply....
If you're willing to pay a premium (but be sure of quality) you can go to Brian Dick at: http://www.bdlltd.com

Thanks. Anyone know if these are usually matching?

The best thing to do is call them and ask. I haven't ordered anything but some Mausers from SOG, and am now waiting for that order. You might also consider the auction sites, Gun Broker and Auction Arms. I have seen some good specimens there, not too bad a price, and at least you can see pictures and ask questions before bidding. I would like to get one more, for now, No. 4Mk.I, Fazakerly, the only make I don't have. I'm looking for either 1943 or 1944 in vg or better condition, and even a Maltby in better condition than the one I have, same year range.

Century has a special this month thru 2/28/06, a three-fer. 3 British made #4 Mk I rifles for $225. That's 75 clams a piece, hard to go wrong. Reports I've read from folks who went for it indicated the rifles were all mismatched bolts, but had nice bores and externally would clean up to a solid G-VG.

I love Century and their good deals and shipping prices.

I just did a show with the "Notrious" Brian Dick from BDL LTD. He has some of the best condition No4 Mk 1* Rifles that I have ever seen, and he is famous for actually knowing what he is talking about with these guns. I would call or e mail him before I would buy anything from Century Arms, and SOG will charge for hand select if you want it to match, if they even have any that are in fact, matched...I cannot say what AIM has, but they usually have reasonable rifles at fair prices in the past....Some of the guns Brian had at the show were absolutely the mintiest I have ever seen...

I saw some of Brian's No4's at the Greenville,SC show and they ARE really nice.I had a table immediately next to him and drooled over them for two days.Unfortunately I had some modern firearms to dispose of to be able to afford one so was unable at that show to take advantage of what he had.

As luck would have it, when I rent a table here in Greenville I end up with a table next to Brian. All kidding aside, if you are looking for a collector grade/minty looking Enfield this is the guy you need to talk to. No kidding & no BS either!
And if you meet him in person he can talk the talk & walk the walk when it comes to Enfields. And Tina {the missus} can hold her own too!!

I just bought an Enfield #4 from Brian. Got a great rifle and an education. Cannot compliment Brian (and Tina) enough for their knowledge and helpfulness. It was a pleasure dealing with them.
