sc closer, Stan & LoLo are out of the running today. I suspect the rest of ya will have to do a few laps to get this one. Hint.......... designed by a very famous firearms designer who seems to have designed everything from a single shot to a machine gun and back again........... good luck! :usa2: :usa2: :usa2: :sunny: :icon_scratch:

You got it, boss...:grinning-thumbsup:
The Model 1885 has two important firsts for Winchester. It was the first single shot rifle produced by Winchester and the first of many John M. Browning patents bought by Winchester to diversify their product line.

The Model 1885, in both the high and low wall varieties, was manufactured between 1885 and 1920, with a total of 139725 examples produced. It was offered in a huge number of calibers. There were 45 centerfire calibers from .22 extra long to 50-110 Express, 14 rimfire calibers from .22 B.B. cap to .44 Flat Henry, and even 20 guage shotgun. When you take this variety and add the number of factory options as far as stock, barrel, sights, and trigger styles, you can see why there are collectors who specialize in only this model.

Pretty neat!
