Here's a couple of pictures of my 1889 that I got last summer from a group buy on the C+R board. I've only had a chance to shoot it once before fall and hunting season got here but I plan on playing with it some more soon.

I have an M1889 that looks much like that one, except it was owned apparently by a civilian shooting group after it's military days.

An adjustable peep sight has been added to the rear, providing a very long radius, with three points to align for the aim.

I've been making GP-90 ammo and firing it with cast bullets. The long sights as well as a very fine rifle make it an excellent and accurate shooter.

When I 1st got it, I took the sight off, and noticed the blue underneath. It's been on there for a very long time.

That rifle and an M1911 are two of my favorites.

This rifle has been on my mind lately. I trimmed some brass up and intend on shooting it pretty soon with some cast bullet loads. Now that deer season is over I can finally get out and give my Swiss rifles a workout.

You'll enjoy it I'm sure, unless you have the problem I did with a half dozen spectators at the range standing around asking questions about the old girl, and wanting to "try her out"!

The next problem I had was the 40 pieces of brass I made. I chunked them into the tumbler with the GP-11's and had to separate them later. My eyesight is kinda crappy these days. Time was when I could simply look at the brass and see that it was a bit shorter, but NOT NOW!

So I used a 30 cal drift punch chucked in a vise, and stood the brass on it and stamper a "0" on the head to indicate "90".

That's a pretty good Idea. I'll have to do the same to the ones that I trimmed back, then I wan't get any surprises at the loading bench.:grinning-thumbsup:

Beautiful rifle,Steve.Maybe next time I visit my sister in Valley we can get together to do some shooting.Where do you go around there?I don't recall any ranges but that's been a long time so maybe there are some now.

Still no ranges around here Stan I just shoot on a friends property. On second thought their is a public range located on the Georgia side of West Point Lake but I've never been to it. I don't think it theirs much activity and you are limited to what you can shoot. Not enough to draw my interest anyway.

Next time your down this way give me a hollar.:)

Thank's Wes, I enjoy taking pictures of them. A few years ago the thought never crossed my mind but the digital cameras turned out to be a good investment for us gunuts. I have more gun pictures than I do family photo's.:D
