Usually I post range days in the"Great Outdoors"section but today's range day was strictly British oriented so I thought it more appropriate to post it here.
The participants were the Martini-Enfield and the Jungle Carbine.
Jungle carbine-Functioned perfectly. All shots were at 100 yards.Ammunition was 150 grain and 180 grain handloads and 180 grain "Hot Shot" brand from Century. As usual any British rifle using iron sights likes the heavier bullet since the military load was 174 grain and this one is no exception. Both my handloads and the factory ammo shot very well. The first few shots were right-on elevation wise but to the right.I drifted the front sight right and was able to obtain 3" groups with both types of ammo.A very fun rifle to shoot.
The Martini-Enfield was just as the previous owner advised, shooting high.I am going to have to do some load tailoring to get it to shoot to point of aim.
Windage is good.Grouping was good.I had no function problems and it ejects the fired shell smartly. It has excellent balance and feel to it.The wrapping of the hand around both the rear stock and lever gives a solid handful. When I get a load tailored to it and accustom myself to the less than optimal sights it will be better results wise.If I had my druthers the barrel would be longer.
