I went over to visit mi compadre Ol' Fella and his beautiful wife Linda today. We socialized and drank some coffee talking about everyday things that everyone talks about. And so we went out to the office for a quick look see and a quick smoke. I will see if I can downsize the pictures so that you guys on dial up do not have to wait forever okay?

I'll post the pictures and let Stan come along with any editorial and/or tutorial that he may have okay? As you can see it is not a very big rifle.

And last, but not least a classic in it's own right. Probably my favorite pictures of the Ol' Fella & me (I hear that Linda has this one framed by her bedside table). Are you ready? Scroll down...

As God is my witness, I just could not help myself!

All kidding aside I thought the Martini was a pretty neat looking old girl. It certainly looks old and frail, but I am here to tell you that it is one stout rifle and surprisingly it feels balanced too. No safety though, but I guess for a single shooter who needs one?

All in all a very, very cool looking rifle. The pictures do it no justice!

Ah,good pictures amigo. When I got the Martini the first range trip showed me that it shot high.Really high.About 30 inches.I got Fred the gunsmith to remove the original front sight and install the ramp you see in the pictures. The next range trip it was shooting low indicating a too high blade so Fred did some of his magic incantations, consulted his ultra secret sighting charts and put on the lower height blade in the picture.I have not yet been back to see how this one does.
The Martini is a very well built rifle. It is solid and balances really well in this trade pattern artillery carbine configuration.
As far as I have been able to determine this particular rifle is over 100 years old.Not bad shape for that age.

Stan(aka Crusty the clown)

p.s. Dog,you are going to pay big time for that one.

Stan, Ultra nice rifle my friend! What a find! I hope you get it dialed in so you can hunt with it someday. I'd even like to try that Martini out myself, never saw one as nice as that in my life.

Yeah, I let Stan have a nice one, but the best I save for myself....hey what's that noise out in my office......sounds like my gunsafe door.....STAAANNNNNN!

The two I kept are both in .303 Brit.......they are in earlier postings in Brit Weapons.......

martininut, you told me going in that it shot high.
I looked at a picture yesterday of your long .303 Martini.Probably the mostest beautiful Martini I've ever seen. The condition for it's age is simply unbelieveable.
Thanks,
Stan

They have quite a few versions on ima-usa.com. Where did you find ammo for it?

The beauty of Stan's carbine is that it was re-barrelled by the British Army to .303 Brit......plenty of ammo for that one!

Plenty of ammo coming out of my reloading. The surplus .303 that you get now is the bottom of the barrel.Gone is the Greek and South African which was great stuff. To be able to shoot good accurate .303British is the whole reason I started reloading and now it has expanded to other calibers, especially 45/70.

You must be a pretty hardcore C&Rer, Stan.
I learned how to use a Martini from watching a documentary...IIRC, you flip the little knob on the side, pull down the lever, drop in a cartridge, close it and fire.

I want one, they seem superb, but other priorities first; CMP carbines and that M14 I've always wanted.

Timbo, the lever on the side is a cocking indicator only. You don't actuate it in any way.
