Hi folks, I'm am new to the forum and I recently aquired a CG Bonehill SidebySide Shotgun. I've tried to do some research on this weapon to no avail.... I would appreciate anyone that knows about Bonehills and maybe even have a picture of one. I aquired the barrels and the receiver group but not a stock or fore arm grips. I would like to recondition this weapon and would appreciate any and all help here. Thanks...

Welcome to the forum. I'm completely clueless about shotguns, but I'm sure that someone else will post some helpful info.

Christopher G. Bonehill of Birmingham England was a master builder of fine side by side shotguns in the late 1800's.He at one time entered into an agreement to manufacture sXs's for none other than Winchester. These are know as "English Winchesters".
Shotguns built by him are well executed pieces and fetch good prices at sales and auctions.Usual prices seem to start at around $2000 for good condition pieces.
Do a Google search on Bonehill Shotguns. There's a lot of info there.

Thanks Stan for the good information. Maybe you know of someone that would know how to put together the French buttstock and forearm on this fine gun. Or maybe someone might know of such a gun smith that's worth his weight in gold....

Thanks for the very warm welcome from both of you guys.

It looks like you're from the Gurnee, Illinois area...........

Does anyone know of a Gunsmith in that part of the world that you can recommend?

If not.......and you don't mind shipping it off to be worked on, there is a guy in South Carolina that a couple of our founding members highly recommend. There is a link to his website on the portal/homepage of this site.

His name is Fred and the link is labeled "Low Tech Gunsmithing".

I checked his IP address and I'm pretty sure that he's in Illinois. Specifically, Gurnee which is a suburb of Chicago.

As I said.......that's not his website coming up, for unknown reasons at this point. However, Stan and DOG, both know Fred personally, so I'm sure they can put you in touch with him.
