Hello all, I have never posted here before. I found this site while trying to look up this gun. My dad and I are trying to find out a little about this gun. My dad's dad brought back this gun from WW2 who has sense passed and we are looking for some information. Basically, what is it? I have come to believe that it is German. The only letters that are on the gun spell E. Pachmayr Traustein. I tried to look it up but all I found was Pachmayr accessories, mostly grips and the such. The gun has a wooden butt that has, for lack of a better term, a face mold for siting. it has 2 attatchments for a sling, though no sling. It has set triggers, or double set triggers, which is it called? And it has a lever action thing, though the lever doesnt load the round. the round is loaded into the top of the barrel. not a muzzel loader, but an opening in the barrel. It also has what can only be a plug, which I asume was required when bringing back from europe. We are thinking a target practice gun. Doubtful it was used in combat but it might just be a hunting gun. Any information would be most appreicative. If you dont want to post back on this site, you may email me at rednbudd@islc.net Thank you.
P.S. How does Waffen translate? As in luftwaffe and Waffen SS?

no, i might be able to get some on a while down the road. does it sound familiar at all? I forgot to add, the barrell is octagon shaped, not the traditional oval. Also, where the shoulder rests on the butt, its metal in a cresent moon shape. I have a camera which I think I might be able to upload some pictures. But does anyone have any ideas?

I started a new thread. Sorry if this causes any confusion or problems. I didnt know if people would know I added pictures if I used the old thread.
(WmRoy, I merged the threads and changed the title of the post.)

It's a Schutzen of some sort.
I suspected as much from your description, but now we know.

No Problem...........
:D
You'll find links to clubs that shoot these here in the States. Likely, you can gain even more info from their members.
Good Luck and let us know what you discover!
