Well, an Armilite kind of followe me home, that is. I won this on Gunbroker a couple of weeks ago & just got around to picking it up. I haven't shot it yet...

I picked it up at LowTech this morning. I didn't have time to go to the range because I had other errands to run. I did manage to stop by & see the Ol' Fella at his other job.

All in all it's pretty cool. A little different. In fact, a lot different. I remember the M16's as being a plasticky weapon. Granted this isn't a M16 but it sure made me think of one. I got the owner's manual, original box, & 2 magazines as well.

I would say it's in near new condition & in an almost unfired condition. One thing is for sure, an AR15 is next!

Anybody else got one?

The difference which I noticed right off is that it has a bolt charging handle rather than the "T" at the rear of an AR action.DOG brought this by the shop Saturday morning.Nice clean looking piece.

It's an unusual design, that's for sure. It took awhile to digest the operators manual just to take the bolt out. I'm figuring it out. Maybe Tuesday AM we can plink some before hunting? I'm off again Ol' Fella..

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Armalite the folks who made the original AR-10 back in the 1950's?

Armalite was the company founded by Eugene Stoner who developed the AR.Colt took over manufacturing later.

AR15/M16 = yes. They then later went on to develop the AR10. Eveything I read about the AR10 seems to suggest that it is a far superior weapon to the AR15. The AR180 is supposed to be a better design that the AR15 as well. But I would say the fit & finish of the AR180 is okay. Supposedly most AR15's built nowadays shoot 1-2" out of the box. AR180's shoot under that as do the AR10's..

Thanks! Truth be told I now have 2 AR-180b's & an AR15. I'll be selling one of the AR180b's I think? Anyway I've got my eye out for an AR10b - it's a little on the odd side Ithink..
