Well guys.......I've not made any wagers in several weeks, but figured I might as well "bet the farm" with all I've got left in my offshore account on the Super Bowl, as I don't really care about carrying the balance over until next fall.

I don't pay much attention to the NFL, I'm a big college football fan. Sooooo....I'm not sure which way to go. The lines are all over the place. It goes from 3.5, to 7.0 to 10.5 to 14.5 and the crazy thing is that it goes BOTH ways, Steelers and Seahawks.

The offshore sportsbook that I use is offering wagers using lines from 12 different sportsbooks, which is real nice. I can pretty much bet anyway I want, but I need to know who to go with and how strong you guys feel about it, so I know what odds to lean toward.

Any ideas?

Current Balance: $114.00

I say Steelers just because I don't like most things that come from Seattle!

....weeeeeeellll....bein' BROWNS fan....STEELERS SUCK:violent1: :bootyshake: :devil-smiley-1: ...so my gut instinct is to not root for them.....the media hype is all for the Steelers-which tinkles me off even more, and they can be notoriously wrong...I predict a close game somethin' like 24-21.....I'm rootin for the SEABIRDS-straight up...:love4: :wav:

Ok.......after quite a bit of thought regarding point spread vs the payout, I went with this as my wager:

List of all Pending Wagers (USD) for PREMO MONDONE JR .

Ticket # Accepted Type Risk To Win
1754xxxx-x 2/3/2006 9:27 PM Spread 114.00 193.80
Steelers Pt Spread -7½ +170 for Game

The above means that I took the Steelers, giving up 7.5 points. I'm risking the entire $114.00 in an effort to win $193.80.

I could have place a wager with the Steelers being as much as a 14.5 point underdog, but a wager of $114.00 would only net me $16 and some change if I won. Screw that......the money line definately favored going with the Steelers.

I could have given up only 4.5 points, but the payout if I won was much less. This I felt was the best combination of point spread and moneyline to make a wager. Obviously I felt that way or I wouldn't have laid down the $114 clams!

In any case, before now I didn't care at all who won. Now I do!

Go Steelers! :director:

Well I will go on record and say Steelers simply because it was the name of the first football team I played on in third or fourth grade, and because I was born in Pennsylvania. :dontknow:

I forgot to mention earlier........but in the poll for this thread.....whoever added it. There are no ties in the NFL anymore. They introduced "sudden death" overtime years ago.

In looking at the poll,I thought it was Seattle, not Detroit playing against the Steelers.

I don't have a rat in this race so I couldn't care less who wins. The bottom line is it's still money. If it was a car or motorcycle race then that would be another ball of wax. Well I got get out of here and go to the gun show before all the good ones are sold, just going to drool anyhow. The show is at the Allen county fair grounds in Ohio.

I predict that if the Steelers get to Matt Hasselbeck for 2 or more sacks, the Steelers will win. This would mean 2 things...that Seattle is having to pass because their running game is ineffective and that for once, a team is getting to hasselbeck.

If the Steelers get less than 2 sacks, I think that they'll lose.

I am pulling for the Steelers, though. I like their coach and their physical style. Plus, I can't help wanting to send the "Bus" out with a win. I have nothing against Seattle, other than they beat the two teams I care most about....the Panthers and the Redskins.

Early 2nd quarter. Definately off to a slow start. Seattle has been more consistant thus far, but I get the feeling that Pittsburgh might be settling down. If they can get a little momentum going, maybe the game can get on track.

YAAHOO! STEELERS WON! I'm so happy now. Thank God for DOGolden! 21-10!

It is takes a "Bus" to make Hassleback a "Chevette"! I'm a die hard Steelers and Penn State fan too.

Steelers got 3 sacks and as I predicted, they won the game. For the rest of our lives we will remember "the tackle" that saved the Steelers season. I'm happy for the Bus, Coach Cowher and Mr. Rooney. The Steelers are a class organization built on loyalty.

Also, I'm extremely grateful that Mick Jagger did not have a wardrobe malfunction during the halftime show. :D
