I have a gustloff kkw .22 trainer. The stock has been cut under the first band, leaving the piece with the bayonet lug hanging on by the second band. Is this common and is there a reason?

Welcome Aboard Tippy,

I doubt that is normal? But perhaps Mario or someone else will have a better answer for you.

I can't imagine why that would be done?

What you see there indicates to me what is called a "duffel cut".This is a cut in the stock at an inconspicuous place to shorten the overall length and allow it to be brought home in a serviceman's duffel bag.Hence the name.

...Yup...I ditto Stan......:grinning-thumbsup: .....cut to bring back-only way they could get 'em back home without boxing them up and shipping..;) .....which is a whole 'nother story of how some made it-and others didnt..:angry5:

Thanks for your replies :D , I never would have thought of that.

I forgot to ask, how does a duffel cut effect the value?
