Mauser 98 bolt question....

I recently aquired a GEW98 that was sporterized and rebarreled to .270Win long ago. However, it does not have a bolt with it. My question is, does it have to be a Gew98 bolt or will a common K98 bolt fit without modification as well? Of course I understand the headspace would need to be checked before firing.

that I do not know, but if you go to the main page and email Fred at low tech I bet he would know. and would know if any mods need to be made to the bolt face.

Any standard length 98 bolt will fit but you will still need to check head space. If it is set up for a scope you will also need to change the bolt handle to clear the scope.
