Does the bolt stop on an empty magazine follower such as it does on a Kar. 98k or not? I have two examples; one does and one does not. I was wondering if either or both were correct. My observation indicates it is proper for the bolt not to catch because it required a notch to be cut on the top aft left corner of the follower for it to do so. Is this a post-production modification? TIA

I think some have been ground off. The 1909 i,ve handled did'nt have the stop, but i've only picked up a few

My Brasilian m1908 does not stop either, but I think it is supposed to function like that. Truth be told, I do not bump into that many Argentine or Brasilian rifles to be able to comment for sure. Maybe someone else is in the know?

I don't think the 1909 Argie's do that. At least not that I can remember. I checked a few that I have, and the German as well as the Argintine made ones, both rifles as well as carbines do not.
