anyone up for a forum shoot? here's what I'm thinking....
5 shots, from the bench, any non-scoped Military C&R weapon. Due around the end of Febuary.
thoughts?
I'll run it and do all the scoring using a PDF target that we choose.

Maybe come 'spring' you can put together a "north" vs "south" shoot........ combine scores divide by # of shooters from each and see which average wins.......... ;)

A north south shoot doesn't sound too bad for later in the spring.

Late March better April........ the worst blizzards I've ever been in were all in March...........

man, ya'll got it rough up there. the only blizzard I've ever been in was in March, now that you mention it. It was down here in 1993 I think. 2 feet of snow overnight with ice underneath. It was bad on those that were unprepared.

I remember that storm in 1993 as a couple guys I worked with was down in the Carolinas and we only got a couple inches of the white stuff.

Yeah, maybe due by the end of March or even the end of April. Once that one is complete, they can be shorter length because of the nicer weather.

The war had a direct bearing on the United States' foreign relations and the relations that were most important were those with the two dominant powers of Europe, England and France. Each country was a monarchy, and a monarchy does not ordinarily like to see a rebellion succeed in any land. (The example may prove contagious.) Yet the war had not progressed very far before it was clear that the ruling classes in each of these two countries sympathized strongly with the Confederacy-so strongly that with just a little prodding they might be moved to intervene and bring about Southern independence by force of arms. The South was, after all, an aristocracy, and the fact that it had a broad democratic base was easily overlooked at a distance of three thousand miles. Europe's aristocracies had never been happy about the prodigious success of the Yankee democracy. If the nation now broke into halves, proving that democracy did not contain the stuff of survival, the rulers of Europe would be well pleased.

Me and my daughter, rode horses, hauled kerosene and groceries to the old folks here in the back woods of Murray County, for nine straight days until the power was back on. I parked a 1 ton 6 wheel drive winch truck in the driveway near the road, which happened to be right in a "drift" zone. It was on the 12 day that we drug the truck out of the 15' high bank with a tractor.
I don't want to see another one like that. I lived in WYO for 2 years and never saw anything even close.

I just posted about a forum shoot in shooting the breeze, should read every thread before I post ehhh? What type of ammo would be used? Reloads, current factory, or surplus? Also, I am from Kentucky, a boarder state, who would I shoot for? If it were for WWII rifles how about an Axis vs. Allies shoot?

Supposed to be in the 50-60 degree range this weekend here in Poe Dunk, Ky. I just took the lady of the house to work at 7, it was 37 degrees, felt like a freaking heat wave after what we have been getting! Oh yeah, isn't "shrinkage" normal with age?

I found the link to the postal match for Stalingrad if anyone is interested. The targets are neat, I think. Maybe gives us some ideas?

I thought the targets were pretty cool as well. I just thought that it might give us some ideas as to weapons class, ammo, etc. We could do something along the lines of Axis vs. Allied vs. Neutral Nations. By doing that we could incorporate all WWII era C&R rifles. Now that is if it is only a WWII shoot, of course. We just do a regular bull at 100 yds. with all C&R rifles. Or limit the rifle class to those that were produced to a prior date. Ammo, I think, would be a tricky thing. Surplus ammo vs. reloads should make all the difference in accuracy.
We could incorporate a pistol match (or separate match) since several of us have at least one C&R.

Some people can't get surplus ammo Chris and my Mauser K98k is in 8X60s. It's the only easy way to own Misurp Rifles here in France. ( It's a L O N G story but I will tell you if you REALLY want to know, OK :BangHead: ! ) I am on re-loads with a very similar performance to 8X57.

How about a bring what you got (C&R) open sights at one hundred yards type shoot? Keep in mind this will be my first forum shoot and I like the KISS method.

....warmer??????????....:BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: ....high here was 20 today.....supposed to get hit with snow just in time for rush hour tomorrow morning .....again.............and around here the road crews ALWAYS wait till there's been about 114 wrecks before they send out the trucks-then they whine about how "rough" it is..........if they started as it was coming down they'd be way ahead of the game............can you tell I'm fond of these fellas???:BangHead: :BangHead:

We don't HAVE trucks here. If it snows or freezes then tough; you either drive VERY carefully or end up in the drainage ditches!

I suggest allowing any type of ammuntion for this shoot. Some folks can't get their hands on milsurp ammo. Some cant' get their hands on 8x57 @ Wal-Mart either. Sure, it will give some an advantage but it's not like there's a purse on this shoot now. Or is there?
I also suggest using a standard target that is downloadable from this website (anybody with a printer can dowload it). If you go with a standard TQ4 target (for example) it may not be easy to find in different regions of the country.
And finally I suggest keeping the rules down to as few as possible. It will make it easier for all to understand and easier for you to manage.
Like I said earlier, count me in. I say let's get the shoot started now and run it through the end of March?

How's this:
use a downloadable target
scan it or mail it
any rifle made before 1958
any ammo
two classes: scoped and iron sights
I'll see what I can come up with for 1st prize in the two classes.

There's a group of us planning on a possible range trip the weekend of March 8th & 9th. If there is a final decision on this by then, let me know and I can shoot my targets during this trip. I'm going to try my best to go if I don't have to work.
