Went to the Washington Arms Collectors show in Puyallup (in case you were wondering, its pronounced "Pew-al-up") and came home with this sweety of a sporterized US Krag:

It started life as a Model 1892 2nd Type Altered to 1896 Standards Rifle and is dated 1894. As you can see, the barrel was cut back to 22 inches and a 1903 Springfield front sight was installed. The stock is the original military, that was cut down and had a pistol grip very carefully added, similar to the Swiss 96/11 Schmidt-Rubins. Nice craftsmanship:

The bore is in great shape and the bluing is around 90%. I'd be more than willing to use this as a deer rifle. Whoever did the work on it in the 20s or 30s did a nice job!
