Just picked up a new Finn M39 from Wholesale Guns and Ammo. Its a 1944 VKT (SA) with a 1898 Tula reciever. All matching $189.99. 90% bluing, wood is VG condition with some nice "Tiger striping". Bore is sharpe and bright.
Its my second M39 from these guys and I am very pleased. Even though the prices for Finns has spiked recently, these rifles are alot of milsurp for the money. Well packaged, quick shipping and each rifle on the web site is individually pictured and described/rated.

Now you are talking my kind of talk. The m39 is my favorite milsurp around. Always has been and probably always will be, even though the prices seem to keep going up and up.

Nice pictures. Thanks for posting! :grinning-thumbsup:

It looks nice.......but I've got a question........and I'm NOT trying to be a smart-ass.

Is there such a thing as a Finn 39 that's "all matching". I mean considering that their really is no such thing as a Finn Mosin-Nagant. They're all Russian and have been reworked.

Don't get me wrong, they are good guns and in virtually every case, better than the original Russian version, so to speak. The stories I heard was that they disassembled them all, went through, cleaned, polished, fixed any problems and then reassembled them using whatever part worked/fit best with whatever gun.

I guess iit's possible that an all matching Russian gun would have, could have been put all back together again, but if the above story is true, I'd doubt it.

Its a valid question...I guess it depends on what "all matching" means to you. Any milsurp rifle that is not truely all original as it came from the factory may technically not be all matching since they were reworked. I think in the case of the Finn captures that were reworked (barrels, stocks, sights) with orginal Russian recievers and bolts and reissued, if the rifle has all of the original reworked parts from the Finn factory (VKT in this case) it is an all matching Finn M39.
Certainly in my opinion a captured-factory reworked rifle like the M39 is really a "standard" and not a true "model" for a rifle. So in this case, technically this rifle has all the reworked original matching Finn parts, and is not a rifle pieced together by the importer.

i think that's why so many people call em finn matching. a lot of the parts used on the m39 were made in finland and mixed with russian parts during assembly. you might wind up with a sako barrel, sesty receiver, remington bolt, tula bolt head, izhevsk connecting bar, sako cocking piece, etc. if the bolt lug or bolt knob are stamped to match, it's still a finn matched piece.

one way to look at it is that they are matching, the finn's just had an unusual source of supply.:xxrotflmao:

y'all have a good day, Keith
