Wednesday is my usual range day but this week I went on Tuesday due to the fact that my 11 year old grandson who had never fired a gun until today went with me.I took a .22 rifle and my .38S&W revolver. We had the range to ourselves.First came safety instruction and range etiquette.Next we became familiar with the Rossi Gallery pump,it's loading operation and aiming.
He did great and I simply sat across from him on the shooting bench and gave him encouragement and pointers on shooting.Almost all of the shots at the target at 25 yards were in the black. Then we proceeded to kill some wild rabid plastic bottles and drink cans plus a few golf balls.I allowed him to shoot until he was tired of it and during a few rest periods we picked up oodles of empty brass for him to take home and share with his three cousins.
I did shoot a few rounds thru the .38 but not many and he was kind of hesitant to shoot it and didn't.Maybe next time when he is more comfortable and it is not all that new to him.
He said he had fun.I know I did.A priceless day well remembered.
