Well, the South Carolina Arms Collectors Association is having another gunshow this weekend in Greenville {SC}. If any of you guys are close by stop in and say hi.
Let's see, hmmm. Gunsmith {Fred and Jane} will be there. Fred is a master gunsmith and longtime good friend of mine. He is going to have some spare barrels, stocks, and an assortment of other goodies for sale. And I think he is going to have some of his finished Mauser barreled actions too {I think .243, .270, etc,}.
And then there is Stan in SC {aka Ol' Fella}. He will also be there Saturday afternoon and most of Sunday as well. Stan is a master{censored}, well... he's a good guy really. ;) Anyway, he will be selling his LT series of sight adjusters which adjust the front sight post on Mausers and Nagants.
Me? What about the DOG? Well, come see me and say hi. I will be selling some of my hybrid DOG-oil with Stan and Fred. I will be there Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Got DOG-oil?
All kidding aside, stop by and say hi. SCACA usually puts on a pretty good show. $4 to park {building owned by the City of Greenville} and $6 to get in. Every once in a while you find a really good deal there. I found a mint, matching Swede which I got for $100. I also got another sporterzied Swede for $65. And a StarB for $125. Nothing else comes to mind, but the weather forecast should be good! Oh yes, if you are looking for reloading stuff this is the show to be at!
See you there I hope. When you find us at the show please stop by and say hi to Bryan Dick. He and his wife Tina {man I hope I got her name right} will have a table next to us. I think he brought one of his crew served weapons with him to display {a working, fully functional machine gun on a tripod}.

And I am hoping to see my old friend Blind Hog there as well. I wonder if he will have a table? Perhaps I will just bring my digital camera anyway??
There is usually a strong showing of Parallaxer's in shows in this area.
Any of you guys going to make it? :dontknow: And on occasion, Parallax Bill manages to grace us with his presence. :p
Parallax Bill has left the building!

Just found out about the show, here. Don't think I have enough lead time to drive there. Say "hey" to Stan for me. Hope everyone sells a bunch of stuff and finds a "good one".

Rustybore,it would be good to see your face in the place. We have a spot reserved for you at Indian Creek .
The Greenville show has been growing both in quantity and in quality the past few years.I am definitely looking forward to this one.Last year I found my Buffalo Classic at Greenville and yesterday during set up while cruising the aisles I spied another.Just might have to see if Mr. dealer has a good price on it.I am also gonna look for a lever gun in 45/70.A man just can't ever have too many of them big boomers.
If your are in the area please come to the show and if nothing else stop and visit with us awhile.

Well, considering the rain we had today I would say the gunshow was pretty much packed out most of the time. I saw a few Swede's today on the high end of the price range {$350+}. Some old Turks in the $125 range. Some nice m38's & m44's in the $100 range.
Our pal mapper123 {Byron} showed up and walked around with a 1891 cavalry carbine. No takers for him on that one so he walked up and asked me what I thought about this VZ24 he purchased. He was not sure about the markings on her. I said I thought it was a Chinese VZ24 because of the stamp markings. And I remember reading last night {no kidding} that so many Chinese VZ24's were captured from the Chinese during World War II that the Japanese re-issued enough CC {Chinese Capture  } VZ24's to their own troops to equip five divisions! Anyway, I pulled the bolt out and expected to see a sewer pipe. Instead I was surprised to find a pretty clean barrel. Very, very interesting {and the rifle was all matching too}.
What else? Hmmm. A 1905 Turk for $125. Garand's everywhere. M1 carbines everywhere. k98's seem to be dropping in price. I saw some pretty decent ones in the $180 price range. And tomorrow, I may, I repeat, I may purchase a 1943 {round reciever} m91/30 with SA stampings on her. Very dark wood, I suspect a non typical Soviet wood. Very dark metal. The bore looked okay, but I suspect that she will clean up pretty good. In fact, I am thinking about getting her for a little project I have been thinking about.
Anybody else?

Pretty good show, translation= added an item to the Mauser collection. Met up with all that Dog mention. Guns and friends, what better way to spend a rainy day.
The item added, a pretty nice Erfurt, 1918 dated 98az carbine or 98a to some. For those interested in such, serial is 7123i. Thought I was going to miss this one. Spotted it from ten feet away, but there was a fella looking at it and three more behind him waiting their turn. I was really sweating waiting and hoping the last guy would put it back in the rack. :duel:
Rifle is matching except the front barrel band, heck even the screw heads match.
Thirty minutes indecision, missed a super nice high polish, early war CZ27 with correct holster and reserve magazine. Walked away to make up my mind to get and when returned, a guy was counting out the green. :BangHead:

i was travelling back to charleston friday night and stopped at a hotel in newberry cause i was tired of driving. just as i reached to turn off the engine, i heard a radio commercial about the show. didn't even know about it.
anyway, i drove back up to greenville yesterday and wound up being the second one in the door. blind hog, that was a nice looking kar98a, i picked up the 89 dollar finn m27 that was beside it!:D
also picked up a 1944 tikka m91/30 with a hex receiver, and a 43 izhevsk m1891/59 with it's sling.
there was a nice looking siamese mauser there, with dust cover and the finish was good on it, but it was missing the firing pin and cocking piece.
sorry i missed you guys, i didn't recognize anybody. i was the big guy with long hair, wearing a black t shirt and walking around carrying a couple of mosins. y'all have a good day, Keith

Yes, a nice 1918 Mauser. You just don't see them around anymore. I saw it too and looked down the bore. Verdict? Just needs the cobwebs cleaned out of her!
