From the SCACA show this weekend here are some pictures of the Erfurt Kar 98a I brought home.
Condition is not the best, but it is all matching with the exception of the front barrel band and the stock has been sanded.

I am also posting pictures of it's post WWI sibling, the Polish K98.

For comparision, here are pictures of the Polish version. These were produced post WWI on manufacturing equipment give to the Poles as war reparations. It is my understanding this equipment was from the Danzig Arsenal.

nice! my fingers were twitching when i saw it, but i'm really trying not to branch out anymore. storage is getting to be an issue, cleaning too!

there was a gentleman at the show who picked up a 1930 pfk warzawa kbk wz98, but the front band was a german k98 band. everything else looked correct though. it looked like a wz98/29 conversion, a wz29 stock using wz98 bands. he pulled out the money to pay for it before he set it down though. i gotta say, y'all do put on a good show! y'all have a good day, Keith

Don't worry about the condition.........Just get with Mosko and have it "Jackerized". He's an "arteest".

Nice find, Blind Hog. I notice the Polish has a sling swivel underneath the front band, whereas the German does not.

I still remember my first Mauser, 1913 Danzig, 98az, sn. 2410a. Wish I still had it, bought about forty years ago.

Nice looking rifle Blind Hog. In fact, I like the Polish Mauser too. I have not seen one in person in quite some time!

Kevin.

The German and Polish are identical except for the stacking hook and sling attachment.

xpertgreg, is it a german marked rifle? the poles received the rifle factory in danzig as war reparations from wwI, as well as a lot of german rifles. some of the early polish made rifles used left over german parts, and the german rifles were rebuilt while in polish hands. yours looks like a polish stock with a polidh stacking hook. front sight looks polish, also. if the receiver is unmarked, it most likely came out of spain. i have a couple like that. y'all have a good day, Keith
