Subjects getting marked as read?

Lately when I am interrupted while I reading the threads for a short time and come back to them, on the mian board they marked as new post but when I go to read they are marked as read. Is this because I have been away from my computer for a while or what? This has been happening to me about the last week or so. It has also happened when I have not been interrupted.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I've had sporadic read/unread flagging errors ever since day one.

Somedays everything seems to work fine, other days I see 3-4 threads that need to be read. I read the first one, I go back to the main board and it thinks all the new threads have been read.

Other times, I can't get the system to recognize that I've read everything unless I myself mark them as read.

I don't know if it has something to do with my cookie settings, or if it's an option in the forum configuration, but I'll try to spend some time tonight trying to track it down.

I checked forum config and there is a time-out setting whereby after sufficient inactivity, all forums are marked as read.

It's currently set for 900 seconds (15 minutes). That may or may not be long enough, but it doesn't explain all the problems we're seeing with what's been read and what's not.

I'm going to go through all my browser settings see if I spot anything there.
