To me, that's the same thing as a pipe bomb! I think I would have turned the piece over to the BATFE to see if they could trace it back to whoever did this.

It's a good thing you looked close Roy, before test firing this one!

The rifle itself is a rare rifle. There is some writing on top of the chamber that does n ot show in the picture that makes it very desirable. The writing across the chamber tells about the conversion to 8mm. I have a carbine converted by the Chinese to 8mm. It would have made a good match but after seeing the booby trap it did not interest me. Porbably worse than a pipe bomb. I am assuming it was done in China. It came out of an old collection. rcb

The Rest of the story: The rifle was sold to a guy in Iowa. But before it left me I drilled another hole in the chamber at the 4 oclock position and put a pin in it so a cartridge could not be inserted in the chamber. It cannot be fired now. rcb

I tried to blow Roy up with this rifle. After a post on Gunboards concerning the rifle's "modifications" I received an email from the fellow who sold me the rifle many yaers ago. He bought it as a LAMP! That explains the interior treatment of the stock, area cut out for wires. I had it so long I forgot the history. Just goes to show tht anything you plan to shoot should be examined thoroughly.
