First of all, I am new here so if I have posted this in the wrong place I request the Moderator move it to the appropriate section.

These are pictures of a German shotgun that was given to my Father at the end of WWII. It supposedly belonged to a mayor of a German town. When all the guns were collected at the end of the fighting, most were brought to the states by occupying troops.
Anyway, i wanted to share this in the hopes someone can give me more info about this piece.
I know that it is a drilling. It is 20 Gauge and has a rifle barrel on the bottom.

Howdy Col. G! Lovely drilling you have there. What a terrific family heirloom!

Kind of hard to give you anything specific about it without a little more information. By any chance, is the maker's name engraved on the rib between the shotgun barrels? I can see something there, but can't make it out. The"Prima Krupp Stahl" on the barrels means more-or-less Prime Krupp Steel.

Here's a Hugo Hensel drilling in 16 guage that looks pretty similar to yours:

Same maker perhaps?

Thanks for sharing with us!

I'll check it out and post.
It looks the same. I'll post a picture of mine. Thanks for the input.

Here's a closeup of the area you mentioned.

It's a different name than the one in the link.

I haven't found any information about this particular model and darn little about the maker, R. Bessel & Sohn of Sagan, Germany.

You may want to ask these folks who specialize in German sporting weapons:

Good Luck in your search!
