Hey, I'm new here. In fact, this is my first post. I just inherited a gun from my father who passed away that has to be old. I can't identify it or it's age, I need some help. I'm putting it here because the only lead I got was that it was 1800's ish and probably American. It has powder residue in it, so I'm assuming it's functional. The metal makes me wonder if it doesn't have some copper in it since the oxidation is green. The only markings are on the underside of the barrel and are, "cmc 15116 s" as far as I can tell. They're kind of worn off.

Ok, so I just learned CMC is Colt. I'm still not having any luck finding a Colt, a Colt replica, a Colt kit, or anything remotely like this. I'm at a dead standstill again. Anyone?

This is the stamping.

fun peice - a big step above a zip gun and im guessing a labor of love by your family member ,

definetly some copper in that brass frame - contributes to the verdigris [green stuff] and its going to continue to do that , just wipe it down often enough to keep it clean ,

its a nice one to have in a night stand i think , not too accurate beyond point blank range , but thats what it was intended for , as well as those its modeled after ,

nifty family heirloom
