What was your first 'real' gun....... no bb guns here folks....:xxrotflmao:
My first was (still have it) a .22 Remington 572 pump. I wish I had a nickel for every round I put through that gun as a kid.......:p ;)
She's still the gun that I just know I can't miss with....:D . Through the years she's had scopes and back to iron sights but no matter what I just love that gun..... right now it has a see through mount and a variable bsa catseye scope....:grinning-thumbsup:
She's bagged everything from tin cans and mud clods to many many praire dogs, hundreds of jack rabbits and other small game, and more deer than I'll admit to....... :D

My first real gun was a dirt cheap, Rossi "snub-nose" .38 special. I was only 19-20 yrs old I think. I don't even know where the darn thing is anymore.
The last time I remember seeing it was when one of my crazy ex-wives was acting crazier than normal and I hid it, just to be safe. I left shortly after that and divorced her and I think I left it there, not sure. Thank God there was no paperwork on it.

In 1955 I bought a Marlin Model 100 single shot bolt action .22.I wouldn't even try to guess how many rounds have been put thru that one in the past 51 years. It has bagged just about anything and everything including a few wild dogs.It has been the one gun that I did not get rid of thru some lean times. It's just as accurate today as it was new and is in just about the same condition as it was brand new.

My first real gun was the fiberglass stocked M-14 I was issued in basic training at Fort Ord in 1969. :grinning-thumbsup:
The first one I personally bought and owned was a Ruger .22/.22WMR Single Six. Wish I hadn't give it to my brother!

Remington Nylon 66. Still have it. Only broke the stock once! Got it when I was 18, so it's old!

Gee, Waldo, I grew up three miles from Fort Ord. My first real gun was a Remington .410 semi-auto that my dad gave me when I was 3.5 years old. Shot ducks with it till it wore out, or I guess, I out grew it, and then got a Model 50 Winchester 20 guage when I was about twelve. I definately wore that one out, and then got a 12 guage Model 59 Winchester. I used to shoot three or four cases of shotgun shells every duck season. Those were the days.

My first real pistol I bought was a Ruger MkII .22 and the year was 1986. I was a SGT in the USAF Reserves and I worked on AC-130's. Most of us were prior service and gun nuts as well. One drill weekend my pal Rick says to me; "Hey DOG, this weekend we're gonna drive to Defuniak Springs and get you a gun." I was a poor college student then and didn't really have any spending money, Rick told me not to worry about the money issue because he had my back. So me and Rick got in the blue USAF Dodge Power Wagon truck and drove the hour or two to Defuniak Springs. We left there with a brand new Ruger MkII for $179 and two boxes of .22's. I sold that pistol to my ex brother in law for $100 several years later. And then bought it back from him for $50. And then sold it back to him for $100. And then bought it back from him for $50. After that, I decided that I would die with this pistol in my posession.
Wow, I have had that pistol for 20 years? Man, I'm getting old.
My first real rifle was a Turkish carbine that I bought for $65 at a gunshow here in Greenville SC about five years ago. She was kind of ugly {still is}. My son and I refinished her and gave her to my father about 4 years ago. She is still sitting in his closet {all dressed up with no place to go}.

my first real gun was a sears single shot .410 shotgun i got for christmas when i was 7. i'll have it forever, pop took me and my brother out that morning (we got identical shotguns), and stamped our names on the receivers. not the first gun i shot, but the first one that was "mine". y'all have a good day, Keith.
i already have one for my son. since he's half japanese, i got him a mukden series 6 type 38 arisaka carbine. if he should decide to live in the states one of these days, i've got it waiting for him.

A winchester 1A...or A1. The best 22 ever built. The 40 inch barrel gives it better range and accuracy than most 22's.
Course that was the one my dad gave me from when he was a kid. If you want to talk qaulity and workmanship your talking about this gun. First one I got for myself was a Russian m44.

my gramp gave me a marlin m989-m2.
this later got broken and many of its parts made it into what i now call my m60cross model marlin.
second gun i wish i still had....remington improved m6....little rolling block 22 that someone had shot so many shorts out of you couldnt shool long rifle with out the shells having to be pried out. i traded that little popper for a simons scope that later was traded to my brother...he broke it trying to turn in the front ring on a scope base. last i hard a collector from florida had bought up ever rolling block the pawn shop had so that little popper is somewhere in FL. if you ever see one you will know its mine because someone somewhere had started to hacksaw the barrel to shorten it.
since then a few guns have come and gone, the dog of them all was a brandspanking new ruger 77/22hornet(has a magor design flaw dont buy one!) second dog was a remin m700 in 22-250 fully tricked out from the factory...hunk of junk folks, 1 1/4" groups is the best it would ever do. next was a rem788 in 222 absolute dream to shoot and load for, followed by a ruger m77 target in 22ppc. if you note my handle you will see how i feel about that gun/chambering. right now the only two factory guns i own are a remington 521 junior target special and a tc renegade.
from now on i will be building my guns!

OH I FORGOT!
i also had for a time a couple of 22s. one was a remington 541 fantastic little gun highly recomend it to anyone. had a 581 did not shoot as well as the 541 but would still have made a great gun for anyone. the realy neat little popper i had was a win m60-a it had had a hard life and lots its sights and were replaced later on...even had targetblocks at one point....long story short this gun could not hit a barn if you were standing in it but it sure was a fun little single shot!

Mine was a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch rifle. I still have it, but with my more recent interest in Military Surplus rifles, I am thinking of selling it. :dontknow:
I really enjoy my second rifle I ever purchased. A Marlin Model 60 .22 LR. I had an extra scope and some cheap rings and put it on the rifle a year old. This thing is a tack driver at 50 yards. :D

My first gun was a J C Higgens 12 ga that I inheirited when my father died when I was 13. I have made some alterations to it in the last 52 years though. The first one that I bought was a ruger 10/22 sometime in the late 60s.
