Looks like a Uruguian Datetdeau 7mm converted by MAP to 7mm for the French Navy (To shoot torpedoes from the bow of early fast boats..) and then sold to Uruguay when the torpedoes got too fast to shoot at....

a pretty uneducated guess, but lets try this:
portugese kropatschek. y'all have a good day, Keith

Good guess Keith, but it's not Kropatschek. That one has a selector and a metal portion below the bolt handle on the right side of the receiver.
It's a 71, 71/84 of some kind, of some country!

ubetcha big guy! That's where the fun is. I really don't know why, but that's where my interest has been lately.
There's just nothing quite like a breech loading "smoke pole"!

Well, in my opinion, they might have called it a "milk cow", and may have nade it fior the Martians, but it's origin is still a Mauser 71!

Mosko you were on the right track. The 1887 was a reworked G71/84. The 71/84 has a lower comb and one more barrel band. There is also a difference in the bolt locking arrangement.

BINGO!! I knew fr8 would come through....:headbanger:
Mosko, you were on the right track but I thought saying it was a variant of the m71 was confusing.......... leave it to fr8 to pick out the differences....
