I recently bought a Colt Police Positive, manufactured in 1921, in .32 caliber. What ammunition do I buy for this revolver today? Do I buy s&w .32 long or some other round? Is there still a Colt .32 round available. There seems to be some discrepancy among others I have contacted. Thanks for your help.

Don't know anything about the ammo as mine is in 22.
We wouldn't mind seeing pictures of it though.

Hi!
If it has ".32 Colt New Police" stamped on the left side of the barrel then it's in .32 S&W Long (seems Colt didn't want to advertise for the competition and re-named the caliber for their guns). Also, as I understand it, if there is not "step" in the chambers of the cylinder (i.e. they are bored straight through) then it is probably in .32 Colt.

I've seen .32 Colt shorts for sale occasionally, but I believe the longs are largely relegated to cartridge collectors, the round being largely defunct.

I have one in .32 Colt New Police (i.e. .32 S&W Long, a favorite cartridge of mine ... strangely). IMO they are fine guns. I hope this helped!

I have a Colt Police Positive Special made in 1921 that's chambered for 32/20, but it has that stamped on the barrel.
