Dating the grips on my 1946 S&W Military & Police

I have a nice Smith & Wesson Military & Police - the letter from S&W says it left the factory in 1946 with checkered walnut grips. I need to know if the grips that are on the revolver as pictured are the grips that S&W put on their revolvers on this date. Are these grips correct for a 1946 S&W M&P? Thanks for any help. MAK
