I hadn't been shooting in quite some time and just needed to get out of the house, if you know what I mean? :dontknow: Anyway, the wife needed to go see her people in Charlotte {beginning to wonder if I should've gone and hit the gunshow downtown, I hear that Polish 7.62x54R was on sale} and I just had to go do my thing.
I called up Ol' Fella (Stan in SC) and told him I'd be at his house no later than 12:30. I had a few errands to run and I had to stop by Kinko's and get some targets printed {it's kinda on the way}.
Sometime around 1:30 I show up at his door  . Usually I am very punctual but I like giving Stan a hard time {old people gotta have something to bitch about}. We pile in the Galant and peel out. Look out, Philson's Crossing here we come.
We get there around 2:15. Standing room only as usual {especially on weekends}. Stan introduces me to his pal Sid. Sid is shooting his m1 Garand and getting ready for the upcoming MSA shoot next Saturday. Practice, practice, practice I guess. As for me, I brought my AX1940 k98 that I will shoot this coming Saturday in the MSA Battle for Stalingrad shoot. For this event, I am shooting Turkish milsurp {yuck - but it's cheap!}. While we are waiting we are burning one :cool-smiley-1: and waiting our turn in line. Out of nowhere this BOZO shows up and sets up his m16/mp5/whatever off to the side and just starts shooting full auto as fast as he can. What a jerk. It's people like this that give shooting a bad reputation. This jerk is even shooting other people's targets on the berm.
Eventually we get our turn. I set up. Stan sets up. I brought my k98, Turkish carbine, and SAKO m39 { <-- for some unknown reason this is my favorite milsurp, ever}. We walk down range and I hang my targets {Swiss A5 target}. It's my turn to shoot and we're off and running! But before I can do my thing Sid insist's that I shoot his Garand since I've never shot one before. Go on, try it, you'll like it he says. Four out of five bullets hit a clay pigeon at 100 yards. Okay, I'm hooked. Is there a Betty Ford clinic nearby?
