Is anybody here into collectibles at all? Specifically, hunting and/or shooting collectibles?

The reason that I ask is that I was reading an article this weekend about how well some of that stuff is doing on some of the online auction sites.

Some examples:

A duck call made back in the 1940's recently sold for more than $8,000.
A full sealed box of 24-gauge shotgun shells made by UMC sold for more than $1,100.
A UMC Shotgun Shells "counter felt" (used to prevent the scratching of a glass display case) sold for over $2,300.
A Winchester Die-Cut poster from the 1920's sold for more than $2,600.
A shipping crate for 12-gauge black powder manufactured by the Robin Hood Ammunition company (circa 1910) sold for nearly $900 dollars.

Anybody got some old shotgun shells that are still sealed that they want to get rid of cheap?
:D

Cripes......... I wonder if the old timer has any old calls left??? He used to come home with all kinds of junk from old auctions and let us boys have at them........ we actually broke an old WWII Japanese sword once (we were using it to cut down small trees  )...... that one really kills me to this day.............:( :( :( :( :( :( :( Dad was actually pretty ticked about that one.......:dontknow:

I don't blame him. It's a wonder he didn't beat you to within an inch of your life!

I have my dad's fishing rod and reel that he bought new for $10 in 1942.It's a Pfleuger Summit reel and a 4-1/2' solid steel Tru Temper rod. It's filled with the old black braided dacron line.

Ya know.........it might be worht something. I'll see if I can find the name of some of those auction sites. Ya might want to check it out. You might not want to sell something that belonged to your Dad of course, but it's still nice to know if something has a value above the obvious sentimental value.

The name of the site is "SoldUSA.com". It looks like they are in the middle of upgrading or changing their site as most or all auctions have been disabled temporarily. I looked it over real fast. They've got some categories that are totally empty, but the "Hunting & Fishing" and the "Firearms" areas have a decent number of items.
