Kansas Lawmakers Pass Concealed Carry Bill

(CNSNews.com) - The Kansas Legislature has passed a concealed carry bill that will allow law-abiding citizens to carry concealed firearms for their personal protection. A Second Amendment group called it a "courageous" move that proves Kansas lawmakers are willing to "butt heads with the anti-gun media and the shrill voices against self-defense." The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) said Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is expected to veto the bill, which passed the state House of Representatives on a 90-33 vote and the Senate on a 29-11 vote - "veto-proof margins," the bill's sponsor said. "If the governor carries through on her threat to once again leave her constituents, friends and neighbors defenseless against criminals, we hope the Legislature swiftly and decisively overrides that veto," said CCRKBA Chairman Alan M. Gottlieb. CCRKBA is encouraging Kansas gun owners to call the governor's office and "urge her to do the right thing."

Law-abiding Kansans will be able to carry concealed guns because many of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius' fellow Democrats parted company with her to trash the governor's veto of a guns bill.

On Thursday, the House voted 91-33 to override - seven more votes than the needed two-thirds majority. The Senate voted Wednesday night to override, 30-10, with three votes to spare

I personally have no need for a concealed weapon and my personal belief is that most of us don't either. What gets my attention is the term law abiding citizen. What does that encompass? The term is too loose and could potentially mean too many things.

Is there such a term as a law abiding criminal? I think not, so maybe, just maybe, anyone should be able to carry a concealed weapon, since the term criminal would make us assume that they carry concealed weapons anyway?

In the meantime, go Kansas! :cool-smiley-1:
