Just out of curiosity, I understand that it was dumb for him to be standing behind the gun, but how did it go of like that? I have never been close to one of those artillery weapons, and am curious as to how that happened?

I don't know much about artillery pieces either, but it looks like it went off just as he closed the breach, so I wonder if it was a "slamfire" of some sort....

I've got no idea what mechanism causes the darn things to fire either, but it looks like he loads the shell then makes some sort of final motion just before it fires. I don't know if he was simply securing the round or if he was actually firing and simply forget to step to the side first.

Maybe someone with some artillery experience can help out on this.

It was funny though how he went flying backwards out of the video shot. Hoepfully he wasn't seriously hurt.
