i was going to make my own stock for my next project gun...well went with a fajin stock instead but somehow got roped into making one for my nefew!
ok so now i gets this hunk of tigermaple...has the stripes all along the wood big time bucks if bought. my brother works at a veneir mill and got it for nothing...had it cut years ago and it has sat ever since. so i get the stockblank free from the block...after burning up my saw...ok so now i am shaping this thing...durn hard wood folks dont believe them when they say its soft maple! have to be very very careful because of the wavy grain too....only real way i have to removing wood is with chisels and rasps...rasps is too slow...so tonight i am there trying to cut some excess wood from the sides right...slip and stick myself in the hand with a razor sharp chisel...called up my brother and told him to stop on over tomarrow to see how its coming along.....plan on cracking that blank over his balding head.
