From the SCACA show a couple weeks ago acquired a neat .22 LR conversion unit for the K98k rifle. Erfurter Maschinenfabrik (ERMA), serial number 4681, dated 1937. This is a unit that for many years I have wanted to add to the collection.
It was part of a group of firearms souvenirs returned to the US by a WWII veteran. Hopefully I will soon have the war trophy retention document, or perhaps a copy, to go with the unit.

I just about shorted out my keyboard when I saw that. Would love to have one of those. The only I saw at our local show was mismatched and no box for $600.

Thanks fellas, needless to say this one made me a happy camper. Now I need to acquire a nice K98k to go with it. My long gun collection is made up of many, many Mausers, all contract rifles, but after all these years never got a German K98k.

Stan, I really missed not going to the shoot, but the Outer Banks trip had been planned for quite some time. We were supposed to leave on the 13th, but the remnants of Hurricane Ida turned into a major Nor'easter that lingered on the coast for some three days. The surf was so bad that ocean overwash actually took out a section of Highway 12, North of the village of Rodanthe. My friend Roger A. called me the night of the 14th to let me know that he had acquired the conversion unit along with two sporters from the same era from a walk in. "Did I want it?" "Heck yes, I'll see you Sunday".
On the 16th, NC DOT open a four wheel drive only sand road round the cut highway, so up we headed. Surf was still quite heavy and still some overwash on high tides, but passable. Even with all that we still caught some quite nice whiting and small red drum. Got back home on the 24th.

Here are a few more photos of the unit.

Yes, they are located in Erlangen,Germany, very old established co,so one of your local dealers should be able to import for you if needed. They have been around for such a long time that they might have an outlet already in the USA.They also used to retail Reck,Rohm,Schmidt, revs etc.
