Arrgh, Spuds beat me to it, 1909 Peruvian it is. Also note the high rear reciever bridge, classic Peruvian '09 indentifier.

I have one of these, and it having a roller-coaster rear sight but lack of exposed inline magazine like on the 1891 Mausers is what clued me in. It was still a bit of a guess, my Mauser-dar isn't what it should be.

Until recently, I had one of those as well. I recognized it right off, but I'm on the bench today. They are very nice rifles and the crest is really cool. I think that alot of people who collect mausers do so as much for the crests as they do for the rifles. Many are truly works of art.

Vic,
I agree with the statement that the crest add a lot of enjoyment to collecting Mausers. It sure does for me.
Such as this,

This has got to be the most beautiful Mauser made. I think even the receiver ring is a tad longer than normal. Just a work of art. Wonder what it would cost to buy a new rifle made to this quality today?

I think that Venezuela had a nice crest as well.
Wow! Bind Hog, if the crest on mine had looked that good, I would have kept it!

Looks a lot like a GEW98 except for the crest.
