It's a musket? :icon_scratch: I never wold have guessed that. I don't think that the 7.62x54 would be very accurate out of a smoothie. :dontknow:

Winchester seemed to favor the term musket for some of their rifles. Another one that comes to mind is the Winder Musket which was an 85 single shot .22 in both high wall and low walls.

Believe it or not.......I was pretty sure (about 90% sure) that it was an 1895 Russian.......but didn't know it was a musket, although I knew there was a model that was a musket. If I remember right, it was made in several calibers.

Wasn't there one that was used by the Texas Rangers and was supposed to be really fast, being able to accurately fire 2-3 rounds per second.

For some reason Winchester refered to a lot of their military rifles with long forend wood as muskets. They still had rifled barrels. Models offered in the Musket configuration were various lever, bolt and single shot. I think it had to do with a military designation between the rifle length and carbines but not sure.

You have to admit that is a seriously cool old gun..... love that bayonet for a lever gun......

About 300 thousands were made on Russian military contract between 1915 and 1917. Of those, about 293,000 rifles reached Russia before the revolution broke out.

This is the Russian military version with the 7.62x54R stripper clip bridge/bayonet. I've seen these in my travels to Finland.
