Mr. Doss? fellow soldiers witnessed how unafraid he was for his own safety.

When you truly believe that you are only a visitor on this earth, fear of death becomes meaningless.

I bet Mr. Doss is on to his reward today.

I thought that Alvin C. York was a conscientious objector too. At least I'm 99% sure that he applied, but perhaps he was turned down, so thus he might not qualify?

He was at first, but his chaplain explained to him the concept of "just war (http://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intrel/pol116/justwar.htm)" and he changed his mind.

Another case, I would argue, of a man at peace with his maker, and thus unafraid of the perils of this life....:grinning-thumbsup:

Mr. Doss was the only C/O of WWII to receive the CMH. Mr. York (WWI) initially objected, but dropped his petition, and religious beliefs against killing. And what a killing machine he was!

In Mr. Yorks own words, "I killed them men thar, to save the lives of our boys"!
