Well, today I am a very happy "Radom" collector. A variation has arrived that has eluded me for many, many years. With this example, the transition between the Type II and Type III (Radom production) has been narrowed considerably. Several published serial ranges for the Type II are: 1/E8000-1/Z5000; 1/E8000-1/Z2000; 1/E8001-1/Z1000. The latter range is likely the more accurate. The Type III (Radom production) range is esitmated 1/Z1001-2/H8900.

The Type II example just acquired is 1/Z0852. In the years that I have maintained a serial database, I have only had (one) Type II, 1/Z reported to me, serial 1/Z0048. In my collection, the lowest Type III (Radom production) is 1/Z1035. The highest I have recorded is 1/Z9732.

An interesting feature of 1/Z0852 is that although it has the takedown lever, the hammer is notched as a takedown as in the Type III pistols. The hammer notch cannot be used with this pistol as the slide is machined so as to orientate to the takedown lever only.

If any site members have or can document other serials in the Type II/III 1/Zxxxx raqnge it would be greatly appreciated.

Daro, thank you, I have been very fortunate recently. Seems that any show I have attended in over year, there has been at least one or more items that can be added to the collection. Plus contacts made at shows and within the vintage pistol collecting community have brought forth some nice items.
Also, retirement has given me a lot more time to to pursue my collecting interests farther afield.

As to the Type II, Z serial block, it is an example that I never would had dreamed of acquiring. With such an extremely limited number produced before the transition to Type III, it is amazing that any survived the war to make their way to the US. As I mentioned, it is only the second that I am personally aware of. Life is good.
