I did not have a good representative Enfield wire wrapped.I obtained a very nice one today from a good friend and fellow collector.
It is a No.1MK.III* dated 1952.The action, bolt and nose cap match.Magazine is not matching. The bore is excellent and the muzzle crown good. The wood as is usual for these is very dark but it is in very good shape with a small split at the nose. The wire is tight and well soldered.Metal has the usual Ishapore black paint which is worn off in a couple of places. It has a rack number in 1" numbers stenciled in white on the butt stock.
I checked feed, extraction and ejection with some dummy rounds and it all performed perfectly.Head space is excellent.
I know I will shoot it some but mainly it is a representative piece for my collection more than anything else.
I don't have a digital camera so cannot furnish pictures.

I've been wanting to get one of those, but the price is all over the board. A local had one at our gunshow for $300, nothing special about it, just a "run of the mill". He was firm on his price, the following week he had it at the Reno show, don't know if it sold or not.
I saw an interesting version on one of the auction boards. Instead of wire wrap, the rifle had two metal clamps bolted over the stock. I have seen two of those recently.

The metal wrapped ones are seen less frequently than the wire wraps.
As far as prices,I remember a couple of years ago SOG had these for $79.
I have seen them quite frequently at gunshows for $100 to $125.That to me is about what they are worth.
The first one I ever got was $50 about three years ago.It shot soooo good that I put a short foreend on it,had it drilled and tapped and added a scope.
It is one of my rifles that I hunt with frequently.

I saw Stan's new toy this evening. The woman & I stopped by on the way home for a short visit. The ice cream was good & the company was pretty good too.
Oh yeah, the rifle? She looked okay with some dark wood. Bore condition was *minty* guys. This one, no doubt = a shooter!

I took the "new" wire wrap to the range today.Ammunition was "Hot Shot" brand 180Gr. FMJ.First four shots at 100 yards were low and right of the bull.I used my front sight adjuster to move the front sight over one blade width.I realized I was using a 6 O'clock hold on the bull so I went to a dead on hold and put three in the 3" bull and one flyer off about 2 inches and an inch high.I knew I pulled that one.Very pleasing results but then..it's an Enfield.
This going to be a fun rifle to take to shoots and let everyone make comments about and then proceed to show what it is capable of.
Next project is to work up a reload that will do as good or hopefully better.

Even a good rifle needs someone that knows how to use it correctly.I am pleased it is a capable rifle.

Hey Dog, Wait until I move back home. ;) I have a "Custom Carbine" No4 Mk1 Enfield myself. It wears a Fajen stock and the barrel is only 16 1/4" long too.

Here it is. I've killed groundhogs with this Carbine up to 400 yds. and deer up to the same. Loads are factory Win. 180 gr. Power Points. I'd use it for black bear in close too. I have more stuff if you guys want to see it. I'll put it in the proper places if I can too. I call this Carbine "Stubby". ;)
NOTE: I had to "refinish" the magazine. It was rusting and a good sanding and a coat or three of flat black brought her back to life. She will drop anything I need her to as well. The bore was bored out and relined too. It has a "Match" bore now. She will print one hole at 200 yards too. If I have to get serious though, I got my M-1917 Enfield in .30-06 to ask for the task at hand. ;) See this link: http://www.guncollectorsforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166

Are you a midget Rockman? :D Sorry, I just couldn't resist bro!! :D
That is, a seriously short carbine!! I bet it kicks like a mule too!!! It's reminds me of Stan's "Lil' Boomer" m48 that Fred worked on?

Stan, I'll post the others ASAP too. No problem. I have my M-1917 posted in the "Rifles" section, I think it is the "Rifles" section. I'll get my rifles posted in the "Rifles" section as they are mostly sported, but not by me though.
Dog, Actually it is as a mild as shoooting my Swedish Oberndorf Carbine. It does not beat you up like my prized M-1917 Enfield sporter in .30-06 with its 21 3/4" barrel. I think Stan knows what I mean here about my M-1917, that thing will rock your world for sure!! :BoomSmilie_anim:
I'm 5'10" and about 180 lbs. at last check. ;)
