I am looking at a Ruger Blackhawk 44 magnum manufactured between 1955 & 1958. I do not have the serial number yet. The weapon has seen less than 50 rounds and is still packed in the original box. I believe the barrel is 7 or 8 inches long. Does anyone know the value?

I would guess the value at between $400 and $475 in the box. This would be a three screw model and hopefully unaltered by the factory.

A Ruger Blackhawk in .44 Mag made in the mid to late 1950s would be a "Flatop" Blackhawk predating the Super Blackhawk model. If it is in the conditon you describe with original grips, finish, unconverted to the new safety system and with correct box it could be worth over $1000. They were made in both 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 inch barrel lengths, the latter being more valuable to collectors since fewer were made.
