Getting ready for the harvest, and am thinking this year it will be Stan's .303 and my old reliable, a Ruger bolt in .358 Win. Last year I passed on a Moose with my brothers 91/30, we ran out of daylight and I couldn't pull the trigger because we were in bear country and thought I would be cutting up a Moose over a bait station:D So this year it will only be 2 rifles, but what the heck, you have to walk the walk if you live around here!

Good luck on the harvest. It sure would be nice to have some moose as I liked it better than beef.

FALL SOON  When does it start? Autumn starts here mid October but I suppose you are a bit further north than me!

I'm glad to see that you place such confidence in the Enfield. It was one of the most accurate rifles I have ever shot.

I'll be glad when fall gets here. I hate the heat of summer here in the heart of Dixie. I have been working on a new hunting rifle the past couple of weeks and hope to have it ready when the time comes.

You got that right Greg, It's so hot the air is like a blanket of heat. They say Doc Holiday moved from Georgia to out west because of his Turberculosis. I think he was just sic of the durn heat!

Well we had a wonderful time out in the Country this Fall. Got up the first morning to the sound of wolves howling back in the hills off the Kobuk river. We had a huge Bull Moose come out of the brush just upriver from the cabin chasing a cow. He swam right by a boat that 2 guys were fishing from, I thought they were going to shoot it, but they didn't, and I didn't have a clear shot. Later in the week I tried for a smaller Bull with the .303, but he got across the river before I could plug him. No Caribou at all had showed up; this Fall was very different. Had to leave camp because the ice started running in the river. Ended up with some meat, both Moose and Caribou from friends. The guys I was hunting with couldn't believe how good that .303 shot! I will try and post some pics later.
