hey everyone,
On a website I found they sell AK 47 pistols. Are those legit or are they American novelty guns?

If they are designated as a pistol from the factory they would be legit other wise they would be a SBR and require a NFA stamp.

Most are imported from Romania - called the "Draco". They are 10" barrelled AK frames with pistol grip and rear trunion modified so it cannot accept a butt stock. The are imported, sold and transferred as "hand gun/pistol".
The shop where I work part-time has sold several dozen of these and therefore I've had the opportunity to handle most of them. They are no better or no worse than the standard WASR-10s. The have standard AK type sights - although using the sights is a bit tricky as it takes two hands (well at least for most of us-two hands) to hold it out at arm's length to acquire a sight picture and avoid wearing the rear of the receiver in your forehead. They strike me as being more of a novelty item - and most of the pieces I've seen sold have been to the younger folks. To me, this set-up would make more sense in select fire than semi-auto, but they do seem to be popular.
