So I recently purchased two firearms, one of which I intend to give to my father for Christmas. One is a Webley MkIV revolver chambered in .38 S&W made in 1942 and the other is a West German Walther P38 chambered in of course the 9mm Parabellum made in 1968.
I originally bought the Webley because he and I like top break revolvers and the film Zulu (they used MkVI's in the film but the British would've had the IV), and I had every intention of giving it to him but I have really taken a liking to it.
So then I find the P38. My father loves WWII German firearms and has a few in his collection already. He has a fully matching P38 with all the great Nazi markings in about 90%. Clearly he has no intention of firing this piece, which is why I picked up this one so he could fire a P38 and not feel guilty about firing a collector's item.
This leads me to my point, I picked up both because he will like either of them, but I don't know which one to give. He probably won't be able to find the ammo for the Webley, and ammo for the Walther will be pleantiful. I honestly do not know which one to give him. Any suggestions?
