Does anyone have information regarding the Worthing Arms company? I have located an SxS Hammergun and can find no information other than the name. It has 32" Damascus barrels, and rebounding hammers. It appears to be of European lineage. Thanks in advance for the help.

Charles

I realize this could very well be one of the many guns built by the Crescent Arms company, for various hardware stores, but the name doesn't stick.
This is all I can find on the gun:
Worthing Arms
209921 Metal
Genuine Armory Steel
Choke Bored

I was waiting to see if anyone else had any info, I'm curious myself. I have several of the old "classic" shotguns, and always have difficulty, or just no luck at all finding information on them.
The problem seems to be that unless it is made by one of the more well known makers, the info is sparce. Added to that, most of the makers, built guns for other folks, and added the purchasers "brand name" rather than their own, sort of like "generic" brands of items today.
Also, record keeping at that time was kept by the manufacturer, often a family business, and upon the death of the individual, the manufacture, or the record keeping didn't continue.
And even further, many of those folks were bought out, and their designs integrated with a larger commercial company and the previous records simply discarded.
I have a couple that I have never been able to find even a single word of information on. Good luck to you and your search.

Yeah, I can remember when I was a kid.......the local Western Auto had shotguns and rifles. I guess those days are gone and none of the hardware stores do that anymore, or do they in some parts of the country?
Just curious........does Western Auto still exist anywhere in the country? Or has it gone by the wayside?

I have seen a couple of Western Auto stores, during my travels throughout the South. They seem to be very sparse, though. As a youngster, the local Western Auto guy knew to place a couple packs of BBs and a box of 22Shorts on the counter, everytime I came in the door. I was always on some kind of Saffari.

A few years back, I worked part-time at an Advance Auto Parts. Apparently now, Advance Auto Parts, Discount Auto Parts, and Western Auto are all one. (At least that's what I gathered from inside information)
Oh, good luck on your search for information on that shotgun. I know very little about shotguns. Don't even own one. :dontknow:

Yeah....it seems the only Western Auto stores that I've seen and that's been at least 5-10 years ago, were in very small rural Southern towns, normally in the old "downtown" areas.
As for shotguns, I don't own any either and doubt that I ever will. I just don't get the attraction, but to each his own.
I will say that if you've got an home intruder in the middle of the night, I don't think anything in the world is a better deterrent then coming up behind the intruder in the dark and letting him hear the sound of a pump action shotgun.
It's been known to turn men into mice, pretty fast.
