From the SCACA gunshow this past weekend, this followed me home along with another Luger for the collection.

6.35m/m, Wiener Waffenfabrik "Little Tom" designed and patented 1908 by a Czech, Alois Tomiska. This variation was manufactured by Wiener of Vienna, Austria in 1920 and bears Austrian proofing. Also included is a neat little military style flap holster.

Pistol is quite ratty, but for the "sweet heart" grips I just could not pass it up. Who were the lovely bare legged ladies, maybe a soldier's girlfriends. German or Allied, with the passage of time who's to know?

I read on another forum, sometime ago, that these grips were manufactured in England. It was a cottage industry. GIs would pass through and have the grips made then the picture was placed underneath. The grip material was supposedly the Plexiglas from downed German bombers. Could be true, but also heard that these were made in Germany post war for occupation troops by locals trying to make a buck. I will look to see if I can find the forum and post but it was years ago.

Christopher, thank you for interest in this neat little pistol. As I mentioned in the post the condition is quite ratty, the grips make this one.

It is my understanding that the "Little Tom" was the first successful double action semi-auto pistol. In fact it is only double action, no way to fire it otherwise.

I have also read that some features from the lock work were incorporated by Walther in the design of his PP pistol.

One neat feature of the pistol is the magazine. it does not insert from the bottom as with most pistols. The magazine is inserted from the top and in doing so pushes the expended magazine from the bottom of the grip and then the new magazine locks in place.

HM,
I have been fortunate that some interesting pistols turn up, here in the Carolinas. There is usually a gun show almost every month within a hundred or so miles. Plus I have developed a good relationship with show vendors and receive notice of items of interest from them that turn up in their shops.

I knew I had seen these before. I actually had time this morning to sit and look for them. It took me about an hour, but here is what I have found. There are no pics. The one for the Parallax sight did have a pic, but it is not coming up now.

I probably would have gone for it myself. I had one about 20 years or more
ago, forget what I traded it for, rather wish I'd kept it now......
