I just recieved some pics from a co-worker who was in camp last year after I left. His hunt was a bit different; but successful! This photo is about the same view as our header pic. That's my friend standing where the landing strip is

I don't get it. :dontknow: Where's the TV? :dontknow: The fridge? :dontknow: And where would one take a...err, go potty?
Many moons ago when I was a young lad I got to experience my first true experiences with no electricity, running water, or anything like that. Y'know what? It was cool. We did a lot of fishing! And playing! And running around. My Norwegian grandfather's family had a cabin wayyyy up northern Norway up near the Artic circle.
Thatched roof. You want water? You walked down to the stream and brought back a big pail of it! But, there was an outhouse at least.
Cool pix Iquitos. Now doubt this is serious hunting/roughing it! :D Can I/we/us come play with you?

My idea of "roughing it" is a four star hotel with no room service!

Com'on now Lads! Life revolves around Adventure. Nobody is ever too old for that! Just got my invite for spring Griz. How could anyone pass that up?
P. S. My birthday is showing up (again!) I heard that life STARTS at 50!
Dog: I would count my lucky stars to have what you enjoyed. Family is everything. By the way, my position allows me these fruits. I would be more than happy to share! Call me when you want to go!

I bet Roy could show me a thing or two about my lost pastime, Pheasants! And Dog, I bet you could teach me the finer points of being a Southern Gentleman! (Deer hunting?)

I'm more of a bullsh*tter than a deer hunter. Yeah, I talk the talk. But when it comes to putting meat on the table let's just say I ain't walked the walk. Truth be told, I'd rather be hiking with a rifle and looking at things through the scope, just in case, one of these days, I actually shoot something.
C'mon down Iquitos. We'll set up camp or something. Sit up all night long drinking, barking at the moon, & smoking Stan's cigarettes {ooops I forgot, he don't smoke anymore - yeah right}. And I probably enjoy more than anything, just seeing the varmints. And taking pictures, and telling the story.
I think I'll get blooded this year. I'm thinking it's time to get serious.
Thanks for the offer to come up that way. I think I PM'd you several years ago during my seperation that I was feeling Alaska bound & you told me to come on up. However, upon doing the google search Alaska is something like 11 hard days of driving just to get there. In fact, it's so far away I'd need to get the oil changed when I got there! :dontknow:

Of all the travels I've done, I have never been to Alaska. As a matter of fact, it's the only American state I've never visited.
When I was a much younger man, I used to go on "walk abouts" for a month ot two at a time. On one of those I traveled the trans Canada to somewhere in Alberta then turned north intending on going to Alaska.
During my stay in Whitehourse, I met some people, in a bar of all places, and got hired for a job in Dawson. I worked there for "full Circle Outfitters", and met up with a young lady, who was one of the few who didn't leave the area 10 minutes after they were legal to do so. I met her in a bar also, (it was a hard life up there then).
Anyway that's aother story, but it was only a few miles west to Alaska, and it seems that everytime I had time, for the trip, and the road was open, me and the young lady had something else to do, so I never made it to Alaska.
Now that I am an "old fart" like Mr. Stan, and since I surely can't handle the "walk abouts" anymore, I've been considering one of the trips to Alaska like he made, for a vacation, on nice comfortable planes and ships!

Seriously? Have you actually been to all the other 49 states? Even places like Rhode Island?

Yes seriously. You mention Rhode Island, I fly up there to Providence 5 or 6 times a year, rent a car and drive across to Fall River Mass, where my customer is located.
A couple of things about Fall River, the building where my customer is, was a weave shop, where the blue cloth for "Yankee" uniforms was made during the US civil war, and I have another customer in PA, where some of the sheep were raised and sheared for the fiber, that was sent to Fall River.
Also, the home is still there, and still an attraction, of perhaps the most famous resident of Fall River Mass, "Lucy Borden"!
Another small note, I've also been in 4 states at exactly the same time, how'd I do that?
