Some of your SC boys might do well to read the following:
http://www.gunboards.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=158822
One word of caution, I seem to recall this guy has bad feedback, or is bad to follow up. That might be why he is wanting a FTF sale. FTF would remove the problems involved with trusting the guy.

The website wouldn't come up.If you are referring to SCfrank I have done business with him before. The previous supposedly bad deal was several months ago .
The whole problem was not with him but with impatient buyers who panicked when he didn't return emails in a day or two.The guy's job requires him to be gone all week and he only has email access on the weekends.A couple of people had sent him money and followed up with an email. The way the timing happened was that they mailed money and it didn't get there until he was already gone for the week and in this particular case he was on a two week trip.Soooo all of these antsy types started looking for a shipment the day after they mailed their money. Then they started emailing and when he didn't answer emails in a day or two the feedback section started getting posts. It did turn out that the final resolution was about three weeks in the making.
Making a long story short....he isn't a crook. To my knowledge he has never beat anyone out of any money. If I am incorrect on this please correct me.
By the way,why do you use "Spuds" here? Not that there is anything wrong with it.I just got used to you as SLIMTIM.

Spuds, are you flaming him?
Spamming, trolling, flaming or personal attacks will not be tolerated under any pretense. We can agree to disagree in an agreeable manner, but if you have a problem with another member?s religion, creed, national origin, sex, political party or personal hygiene, take it somewhere else. It will not be tolerated here.
Maybe we should just leave what happens on Gunboards, on Gunboards? :grinning-thumbsup:

No, that's not flaming, that's just one member passing along a heads up, to other members about an available deal, and attaching what "may be" pertinent information associated with the seller.
Would we want anything less with a referral? It would then naturally be up to the prospective buyer to determine the value of the information.
It sounds to me like Spuds was trying to be helpful, then Stan, having personal experience and knowledge of the individual, completed the discussion, with "the rest of the story"!
Let me also say, that IMO, things that happen, or are posted on other boards, Gunboards included, will, could and often do become important to members of this board for one reason or another.
Without input and interaction between these "like" sites, we'd be isolated out here wouldn't we?

Let's see, Two Mosin-Nagants, including an M39, and a BUNCH of accessories/dies/etc., all for $150? Perhaps he needs to be flamed. But if I were flaming him, then why would I direct my flames only to SC type folk?? :dontknow: Use the ol' noggin there DOG! It's for thinkin' as well as decoration. :violent1:
It is as Mosko said, thought it one heck of a deal, and wished to alert my SC brethren to it.
Stan--variety is the spice of life. When this forum opened, I thought "I love 'taters, so why not Spuds?" I ain't ST on Cheezyboards either.
Thanks for the info on SCFrank. I was just advising caution based on my own observations. I had emailed him in response to a WTS posting he made and NEVER received a response. I noted frequently after he posted something for sale, weeks would go by before he answered responses. I've not dealt with him and was just suggesting caution, not saying anyone was a crook.

I don't know about anyone else........but if I bought something from someone and didn't hear back for 2-3 weeks, without prior notification that the guy would be "out of pocket", then I'd be upset too and would assume the worst.
If however, in his post to sell or in communication with him about the sale, he explained that he is out of town for 1-2-3 weeks at a time, then I'd know what I was getting into and wouldn't necessarily panic if it took longer to complete the transaction.
I appreciate both posts, by Spuds and Stan, so that I could make an informed buying decision.

For $150 I would've jumped all over it. And getting it would be no problem for me since I'm driving that way this weekend anyway.

Spuds,I took the post in the manner which you intended it,as a heads up.Thanks for the information.Mosko is correct. We should all be watching each others backs and such an informative type post is always appreciated.
CLG is also correct in that any time expected to be lapsed before return communication should be explained beforehand.SCfrank was in error on that count and I told him so.He also later posted a public apology on the feedback section of Gunboards.

Stan, I knew you did, anytime! The last time I looked at the post, no deal looked to be struck, so maybe there's still time?? If anyone is able to consumate this deal, I'd happily accept the M-39 as a "thank you" for alerting you to it. :headbanger:

It's hard to tell sometimes in these Internet matters, as sometimes the truth is like a small fury animal...often hard to stab and obtain. Most likely what is believed by a reader is what your friend says and what are not necessarily the facts. For an example:
I have gotten upset with people for not responding as quickly as they should on an Internet sale. Sometimes things go wrong in seller’s lives and deals do not go through. I remember one time I did not get an item that was promised. I was contacted months later by the seller’s wife. He died in an auto accident. I felt bad for the family’s loss and the nasty emails I sent to his account. Another one I got upset over I later found a child of the seller died. It makes me reflect that sometimes these items we collect are not as important as people and that sometimes I am not perfect either. But then again he is not done with me yet.
Stan in SC is correct as usual in his very graceful mannerism. No one is hurt here, as no one lost money....just the hope of getting a good deal. But as we all know as collectors more will come along later. Besides the guy apologized and that should be enough to leave it alone…. at least it is for me. Just my two pennies.
Everyone have a good week!

I did jump all over the deal and drove to Charleston SC to do the deal....best score of my ole life.....the M-39 is brand new and the 91/30 one of the current refurbs...note, the 91/30 has breathtaking accuracy...stan ward is my witness. Un fortunately the stocks on both suffer from what has to be an alcohol inspired and executed attack by bubba.....he really wanted an L1A1 and carved the combs on both to match the timeless FAL pattern...what to do..looking for an M-39 stock as we speak...the 91/30 is staying in the box..it's a pleasure to own an accurate rifle. The M-39 is a 1970 sneak which I will sell if I can find a stock....the Boot included 1200 rds of ammo(762X54r), cleaning rods, slings, dies, cleaning kits, oil bottles,...Stan was first at the trough and took the dies and about half of the ammo on wed. at "blasters". As for SCFrank, I found him to be totally above board and a great guy....my dealings were excellent..
