Yesterday, I completely dis-assembled my newly acquired Remington Model 11 auto loader shotgun. The mechanism was designed by John Browning, I think in 1906, and this particular piece was made in 1911 by Remington UMC under license.
I spent 3 or 4 hours figger'in out how to get it apart, especially tough was removing the carrier from the receiver.
The Browning Auto-5 is of today is very similar, and I have a manual for it, and I used it for a guide to dis-assemble the 11.
Still, quite an difficult job. What's amazing is the intricaticies of the design, and how that fellow could have calculated, and made all those complicated machining processes from his mind.
Actually, he must have made the prototype with a file!
What a guy.
