As many of you know I work part time in a gun/pawn shop.I love it.I get to play with all the toys, talk guns with my buddies and customers and get first dibs on anything coming off of pawn if I can afford it.It's akin to an alcoholic working in a liquor store. And I actually get paid for doing this!!
For a few weeks I have been toying with the idea of a scoped 30-06 just because I didn't have one. When I went in to work Thursday there was a really nice Savage Model 110 in 30-06 with synthetic stock and a 3X9 scope in the rack which we were in the process of putting out from off pawn.Looks like brand new.I inquired as to how much I could purchase it for and he threw out a really good figure which I immediately accepted.
Savage rifles have a reputation for very good out of the box accuracy.I am sure that this one will do well.If it indeed has ever been fired you can't tell it.
I'll post a range report after this coming Wednesday.
Maybe I should just hang a sign on me that reads "Will work for guns".

Stan,
I'll be watching to see how you like her? My Son has a 110 youth model (I need to get it restocked as he's growing) and he has loved it and yes it is very accurate....:headbanger: His is a .243 but I'm sure the 30-06 will be a good one.
I shot a few groups from a friends Savage 110 .30-06 a couple of years ago. His was setup like you described, scope and all. (Simmons) I must say I was a little surprised. This thing was very accurate. :grinning-thumbsup: We had gone to the range to sight in his scope. It only took 10 rounds at the 50 yard range, and another 10 rounds at the 100 yard range. Dead on. :D
Awesome for the price he paid.

I went to the range today to zero the Savage.Just as Ash stated above...10 rounds at 50 yards and 10 rounds at 100 yards and it was right in there.I shot a few groups getting used to the trigger and then shot a 3 shot group at 100 yards that was about 1-1/4".A very nice clover shape goup that was about 1-1/2" high on the bull which is just where I wanted it.This is where I sight my hunting rifles to give me some leeway all the way out to about 250 yards.
As has been stated before the Savage rifles are vastly under-rated.I like the rifle very much and consider it a keeper.Function was perfect and clean up afterwards was very easy.

I knew you'd like it........... I like my son's but the youth stock really messes with me.............. this summer I'll probably find him a new stock (maybe from Boyd's?) and then I'll have another gun I can 'borrow'..............

Stan hit the nail on the head as usual. All the new rifles put out by them have a tendency to be tack drivers. Congrats on a great find Stan!

i personaly do not care for their actions. the barrel mounting system they use is interesting bigtime to me. then you have the care they put into make their own barrels. from what i hear they have come a long way in their quality control since the 80s.
i have looked over their 22s and almost grabed one once. i have also looked over their "new" 22hornet. loce how the action is so long on the horment however hate how its just a toughened up 22 action...now why can companies build a hornet with 2 or 3 locking lugs up front? throw in that long reciver(with screwed in barrel), clip fed, and you have a very nice little popper! just imagine what could be done as far as comstomizing it.
i know brno was making a hornet on their mini mauser but forget if its been dropped since remington bought up the importership.
