Hello,

I just got my concealed weapons permit. I was wondering if anyone had info on a good holster or recommendations on methods for concealed carry. Thanks.

Hello,

I’m glad to hear you got your concealed weapons permit. I have been carrying for a few years now. It took me a while to find the right concealed carry holster; I have a box of them that I don’t use. I found this brand that I prefer above the rest. It is called King Holster. The website is www.kingholster.com. The inside the pant holsters are very soft and thin. In my opinion, an inside the pant holster is the best method for concealed carry. Sometimes I prefer to carry in the middle of the back. I purchased another holster from the website because if you’re a right handed person and want to carry in the middle of the back, you need a left hand holster. I hope you are able to find something you like. Take care.

I believe one of the main considerations in a carry gun is to get one you will carry. If it is too big, too heavy to carry conveniently, chances are you will not have it with you if you need it. I would rather have a lower-than-optimum-power defensive gun with me than one with more stopping power that I left at home. I regularly carry a Kahr PM9 in a DeSantis pocket holster. Good stopping power in 9mm and disappears in a decent size pocket of jeans or shorts. A lower cost option with less power and only slighly larger is a Bersa Thunder in .380. I have one of these also; it is accurate, lightweight, very well made and cheap to buy and feed - about $200 new. Also fits reasonably well in a pocket with a DeSantis pocket holster. Both these guns have the same advantage as a revolver but in a much smaller and lighter package - grab it and fire (DAO with no safety to worry about). Hope this is of some help.

To add to what Rugerwheels said, the Kel-Tec .380 is the smallest and lightest in that caliber and can be carried without a holster although there are some really nice pocket holsters to be had for it.

I have really enjoyed my http://www.kholster.com. I love toting my Taurus 709 Slim 9mm in it, and IWB is great even for a person of large...girth, like me. :)
