Mario,
Have ya got a photo???? Have ya had a chance to shoot her yet?
I've got one that I picked up from Allan's a while back, and dang if I've gotten around to shooting her......
One of these days I'm going to take it and my mosin nagant m38 to the range and really punish my old shoulder.....:xxrotflmao:
:BangHead: :BangHead: :dontknow: :dontknow: :rolleyes::rolleyes: :D :D ;)
Sweet.
So, does yours have a large S where the receiver and barrel meet? (top) I would almost think so if it's been cut down. If so, should be the 8x56mm cal.
After I stripped the raspberry shellac/paint off of my stock I noticed three sets of numbers on the buttstock. One very faint series on the LH side, and two other series on the RH side. With one series crossed out. The remainder was the same as marked on all other parts, except for the trigger guard/magazine well. I'm in the process of finishing the stock in hand guard in tung oil. It's going to look very nice I think.
I'm itching to shoot mine also. :BangHead:
Oh yeah, beautiful bore too. Gotta love it. :D
There is some info here.

...yes it has the S...and it is 8x56....I was gonna take pics of it tonight with son's digicam (along with the yard with 1" hailstones that hit earlier)-but when I tried,it said "INTERNAL MEMORY FULL"...and I have no idea what to do with it... ...he aint home-he's sniffin' around for ladies...(remember bein' 18...?>??:xxrotflmao: )....so when I nail his butt down to correct the problem,I will take pics of it and post-okeedokee...???:grinning-thumbsup:

Ive only seen ammo for the M95 once. It had a swatstika on the box so it seemed more of a collector piece than for shooting. too bad though.

I believe Sog still has plenty of ammo. And there is modern ammo being manufactured. I bought some but haven't shot any yet...............
Looking forward to some pictures of that steyr. :grinning-thumbsup:
Mine is dry and back together. I'll try to get some good pictures of it by this weekend. I hope.
SOG is where I got my vintage 8x56R ammo. It is corrosive and Berden primed of course, but I don't reload...yet, so it's good enough for me. (bought the stuff that came in clips, will shoot some as soon as possible)
I'm still curious as to how badly this little guy will kick. :icon_scratch:

It cant be that bad. No worse than doing 400 rounds through an m44 in two days.

Just picked up a Budapest 95 and paid $75 OTD for it.
Not a conversion.
Better than my kid brother's M95/35 Stutzen in condition. No import marks anywhere. Figure this weapon has been in the country for a good many years. Good bore.
Now I need to roll some 8x50mmR for the girl. Hooboy.
Have fun, kids!

I bought some ammo from Sportsmans Guide a while back cheap, not Nazi marked and not on strippers.
They're a blast to shoot, but I wouldn't recommend removing the bolt.
You can make ammo from 7.62x54r simply by using the 8x56 hungarian dies. The case is a bit short until to reload it a few times and it stretches.
The problem is that you need a .330 dia cast bullest to get best accuracy if you roll your own, and they're not "real" available. I think I bought some cast .331" from Buffalo arms the last time I purchased.

8x50r ammo is probably tough to find!!
Archivist, I edited your post to remove the profanity. Besides 'girl' or better yet 'old girl' is a much better way to describe a rifle :D

I came across some original 8 x 50R at a gun show last year. It was priced at $40.00 for 20 rounds.

Has anyone tried modifying 7.62x54R for the M95?
