This one was not actually "carried" by U.S. personnel, but was used for training our guys on how to eventually use the big pistol.

Colt first model Match Target, aka the "Bullseye Model". Only a couple thousand of these were procured by the military for training purposes and service target competition, as noted by the crossed cannon ordnance escutcheon and the official government inspector's initials, G.H.D. (Col. Guy H. Drewry). The bulk of these were procured apprx. between June, 1943 to March 1944.

Bob S.,

I assume you are refering to OSS types and such, if so yes the Woodsman and other .22's were used. When I used "carried", it was in the context of what I believed this Forums description is. I would think "carried" to be main issue battle sidearms.

:) Semantics and choice of words ;)
